Building Safety reviews plans, issues permits, and conducts building inspections for development projects.
The City of Chandler Pre-technical Review is now required for any proposed subdivision, site plan development, new building or substantial building addition. This process is free of charge.
The city now offers an electronic plan review for all projects. Please click on the links below for instructions on electronic submittals.
Electronic submittal of plans is recommended, however, a "walk-in" plan review service is offered Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for residential and small commercial projects. Most residential additions and renovations may be reviewed using this service along with a limited number of minor-scale commercial projects. Whether any particular project may be reviewed using our walk-in service will be determined by the plan reviewer on duty.
Building Safety staff inspects new development and redevelopment projects constructed in the city for conformance to the approved building plans. To schedule inspections through our automated system, please call 480-782-3100. For General Building Inspection questions, please contact the Building Inspections Manager at 480-782-3109.
The City of Chandler has amended and adopted the 2021 editions of the International Codes with the 2020 edition of the National Electrical Code. All plans submitted for review on or after July 1, 2022, must be designed to comply with these code editions. For General Building Code questions, please contact the Plan Reviewer of the day at 480-782-3078.
Registered design professionals can now self-certify that a project complies with all applicable laws and codes.
